Dent repair in Dubai covers everything from a 2cm door ding in a mall car park to hail damage across a full vehicle, and the right repair method depends entirely on the type and depth of the damage. Getting this wrong costs money: a shop that repaints panels that could be fixed by PDR charges two to three times more than necessary.
This guide covers the two main dent repair methods used at our Al Quoz workshop, what each costs in 2026, which method applies to which type of damage, and how to get an accurate fixed price before you commit to any work. For a detailed cost breakdown by dent size, see our car dent repair cost guide.
What Types of Dent Repair Are There?
Two methods cover the full range of car dent damage in Dubai. Paintless dent removal (PDR) and traditional panel repair with filler and paint. These are not interchangeable: each applies to a different damage profile, and choosing the wrong one produces a worse result at higher cost.
PDR is the preferred method when the paint is undamaged. A technician accesses the back of the dented panel and works the metal back into shape using steel rods and glue-pull tabs. No filler, no sanding, no repainting. The factory paint stays intact. Repair time is 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on dent count and panel.
Traditional panel repair is used when the paint is cracked, the dent involves a sharp crease, or the metal has been stretched beyond what PDR can recover. The panel is pulled back to approximate shape, then filled, primed, and repainted in a downdraft spray booth. Turnaround is 2 to 5 working days.
For creased damage or collision repair, traditional methods are the only path to a correct result. For clean round dents with intact paint, PDR is faster, cheaper, and preserves your original factory finish completely.
Paintless Dent Repair Dubai: When Does It Apply?
PDR works on dents where the paint surface is still intact and the metal has not been sharply creased. About 70% of the dents that come through our workshop qualify. The most common PDR repairs in Dubai are door dings from tight parking bays, shopping trolley contact, minor bumps at low speed, and hail damage.
PDR also works on aluminium panels, which are now standard on many Range Rover, Tesla, Jaguar, and BMW models. Aluminium requires different tooling and slower pressure than steel, but the principle and result are the same. The I-CAR PDR training curriculum covers aluminium-specific technique separately from steel PDR for this reason.
PDR cannot fix damage with cracked or chipped paint, dents with a sharp fold along a body line, or dents in locations where tooling cannot access the rear of the panel (certain door edges, areas near structural braces). When PDR is not suitable, we say so upfront.
For door panel pricing specifically, including access considerations and per-dent rates, see our door dent repair cost guide.
Traditional Dent Repair: When Is It Necessary?
Traditional dent repair is required when the dent has cracked, chipped, or flaked the paint at the damage site, when the metal has a hard crease that holds its shape under PDR pressure, when the panel has previous filler work that complicates the surface, or when damage is near a panel edge where PDR tooling cannot reach.
For creased fenders and doors from low-speed collisions, traditional repair is the standard approach. The panel is pulled to approximate shape on a jig or with a slide hammer, filler is applied to correct the final contour, and the whole panel is primed and painted with a colour-matched VIN-specific basecoat.
We use PPG and BASF Glasurit paint systems exclusively, the same systems used by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Porsche production facilities. These produce accurate colour matches even on aged paint that has shifted from UV exposure, and they carry the UV resistance needed for Dubai's climate.

How Much Does Dent Repair Cost in Dubai?
PDR pricing by dent size: small door ding (2 to 4 cm) AED 250 to AED 350. Medium parking dent (4 to 8 cm) AED 350 to AED 500. Large shallow dent (8 cm and above) AED 500 to AED 800. Multiple dents on one panel get a discount: three small dings on the same door typically cost AED 400 to AED 600 combined, not three separate charges.
Hail damage is quoted per car based on panel count and dent density. A typical Dubai hail event that catches a car in the open produces 20 to 100+ dents across the roof, bonnet, and boot. Full-car hail PDR runs AED 800 to AED 2,500 depending on severity. See our hail damage repair guide for insurance claim tips and pricing by dent count.
Traditional repair pricing by panel: single panel with paint damage on a sedan AED 450 to AED 800. Same panel on an SUV AED 600 to AED 1,000. Creased fender or door with full respray AED 800 to AED 1,500. Bumper scuffs and cracks AED 450 to AED 900 depending on extent.

Why Dent Repair Matters in Dubai's Climate
Unrepaired dents in Dubai create two problems that compound over time. First, any chip or crack in the paint over a dent exposes bare metal. Dubai's coastal air has a salt content that accelerates corrosion significantly compared to inland cities. A 1cm paint chip over a dent can develop visible rust within 4 to 8 weeks in summer. Second, heat cycling between 15 degrees at night and 48 degrees during the day stresses the paint around a dent. Micro-cracks develop at the dent perimeter, expanding the paint damage beyond the original impact area.
The Dubai Municipality environmental standards classify vehicle condition as part of general road safety requirements. While cosmetic dents are not cited directly, the corrosion that follows from neglected paint damage eventually affects structural components.
Repairing dents promptly preserves the paint layer that protects the metal underneath. A PDR repair on a fresh door ding costs AED 250 to AED 350 and takes under an hour. The same dent left for 3 to 6 months may develop paint cracking, requiring a full panel respray at AED 500 to AED 800. For lease returns specifically, the financial case is sharper: lease companies charge AED 300 to AED 800 per dent, significantly more than PDR repair costs.
How to Get a Dent Repair Quote in Dubai
The fastest path to an accurate price is WhatsApp photos. Take one shot showing the damaged panel in full context, and two to three close-ups at different angles showing the dent shape and any paint condition at the impact site. If the paint is cracked or chipped at the dent, show that specifically: it determines whether PDR is possible.
Include a shot of your car's colour code sticker, usually inside the driver's door jamb or under the bonnet, so we can verify the paint system before you arrive. This is important for metallic and pearl colours where the mixing formula depends on the specific build date.
We respond with a fixed price within 30 minutes during working hours (Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM). The quoted price is the price you pay at collection, with no charges added for blending, clearcoat, or panel access unless we find something different from the photos and contact you first.
For dents that need physical assessment before quoting, we will say so and schedule a no-obligation inspection. This applies mainly to complex multi-panel collision damage where the full scope is not clear from photos.
