Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Cost in Dubai: What Determines the Price

Alloy wheel refurbishment cost in Dubai is set by three variables: the type and severity of the damage, the finish you choose for the repair, and the number of wheels being refurbished. Getting these three factors right before requesting quotes lets you compare numbers accurately.

Damage type is the starting point. Kerb rash (scuffs and gouges from parking) is the most common damage and the most straightforward to repair. Dubai's combination of narrow parking bays, high-kerb streets in Deira and parts of Al Quoz, and heavy SUV traffic means kerb rash on one or more wheels is the norm, not the exception. Deeper damage that has bent the rim, cracked the lip, or caused a structural deformity requires more work and in some cases replaces refurbishment with replacement. See our guide to alloy wheel damage types and repair options for a full classification.

Finish type determines whether the wheel can be repaired to match the original or requires a full strip and refinish. Standard painted finishes are the most affordable to repair. Diamond cut or polished finishes require a lathe, specialist tooling, and considerably more process time. Powder coat changes the finish entirely and has its own cost structure. For a full guide to alloy wheel painting options, colours, and process, see our alloy wheel painting Dubai guide. For restoration of severely damaged or corroded alloy wheels, see our wheel restoration Dubai guide.

Wheel count affects the per-wheel price. Most shops offer a discount on sets of four. If you are refurbishing all four wheels, negotiate the per-wheel price rather than accepting the single-wheel rate four times over.

Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Dubai Prices: AED by Damage Level and Finish

These are the 2026 price ranges for alloy wheel refurbishment in Dubai. Prices are per wheel and cover removal, repair, and refitting unless stated otherwise.

Standard painted wheel, kerb rash repair (sanding, filler, repaint to match original colour): AED 250 to AED 350 per wheel. This is the most common repair and covers the majority of light to moderate kerb damage on alloy wheels fitted to standard sedans and SUVs.

Standard painted wheel, full strip and repaint (severe damage, chipping, or complete colour change): AED 350 to AED 450 per wheel. Appropriate when the damage is too extensive for a localised repair, or when you want to change the wheel colour.

Powder coat finish (full strip and powder coat in any RAL colour): AED 400 to AED 500 per wheel. Powder coat is a factory-applied finish that is more durable than spray paint. Available in any colour including gloss, matte, and semi-gloss. The finish cannot be spot-repaired like standard paint; any future damage requires a full strip and recoat.

Diamond cut wheel (machined finish on the face, powder coat on the barrel): AED 450 to AED 600 per wheel. Diamond cutting requires a specialist lathe that machines a thin layer from the face of the wheel to produce a bright, machined aluminium surface. It is the correct specification for wheels that came from the factory with a diamond cut or bi-tone finish. Requires 24 to 48 hours additional process time versus standard painted repair.

For a full set of four standard painted wheels with kerb rash, budget AED 900 to AED 1,200 for the set. For four diamond cut wheels, budget AED 1,600 to AED 2,200.

Diamond Cut vs Powder Coat: Which Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Do You Need?

The most common question we receive on wheel refurbishment is whether a wheel needs diamond cutting or can be powder coated instead. The answer is determined by the factory specification.

Diamond cut wheels came from the factory with a machined or polished surface on the spoke face and a coloured barrel. The contrast between the bright face and the coloured barrel is the defining visual feature. These wheels can only be correctly restored by machining. Powder coating a diamond cut wheel fills in the machined detail and produces a flat finish that looks wrong on a bi-tone design.

Powder coated wheels came from the factory in a single colour or two-tone painted finish without a machined surface. These can be stripped and powder coated in any colour. Powder coat is more resistant to stone chips and corrosion than spray paint, and the finish is more uniform. It is the correct choice for any wheel with a non-machined factory finish.

If you are unsure which finish your wheels have, photograph the spoke face in direct sunlight. A machined finish shows a bright, mirror-like surface with fine concentric tool marks. A painted finish is opaque and uniform in reflectance. For identification help, send us photos via WhatsApp and we will confirm the correct repair method before you commit.

Is Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Worth the Cost in Dubai?

Alloy wheel refurbishment makes financial sense for two main scenarios: lease return preparation and pre-sale vehicle presentation.

For lease returns, alloy wheel damage is one of the most consistently charged items at dealer-rate return assessments in Dubai. A single wheel with kerb rash assessed by a dealer can result in a charge of AED 600 to AED 1,200 to replace or refurbish at dealer cost. An AED 250 to AED 350 refurbishment at an independent shop before returning the vehicle recovers the cost immediately on the first wheel.

For pre-sale preparation, kerbed alloy wheels are one of the first things a serious buyer or trader uses to negotiate a price reduction. Four refurbished wheels at AED 1,000 to AED 1,400 total can protect AED 2,000 to AED 5,000 in resale value on a vehicle where wheel condition is part of the overall presentation.

For daily driving, refurbishment is worth it on wheels you like and intend to keep. Address the parking habit before spending on the repair if the same wheel is at risk of immediate re-damage. Dubai's summer UV index (11+ from June to September) accelerates paint oxidation on wheel faces left unpainted or with degraded clearcoat. Wheels that are already kerbed and showing bare metal at the damage point corrode faster in Dubai's summer humidity than in a temperate climate. Refurbishing promptly prevents minor rash from expanding into structural corrosion that requires replacement.

How to Choose an Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Shop in Dubai

Alloy wheel quality in Dubai varies as much as any bodywork service. The questions that matter before committing:

Do they have a lathe for diamond cut work? Diamond cutting requires specialist equipment. A shop without a lathe cannot offer genuine diamond cut refurbishment. Ask directly whether they own a lathe or subcontract the machining.

What paint or powder coat system do they use? Spray paint without a proper base and clear coat system will chip and fade within 6 to 12 months in Dubai conditions. Powder coat requires a curing oven. Ask whether the powder coat is cured in-house or sent out.

Do they offer colour matching for standard painted wheels? Colour matching via a spectrophotometer produces a result that blends with the remaining wheels. A close-but-not-exact match is visible.

What is the warranty on the refurbishment? A 6 to 12-month warranty against peeling, bubbling, and colour fade is standard for quality work.
