Full Car Respray Dubai: What It Costs and What to Expect

DentGuy Technical Team8 min read

A full car respray in Dubai covers every exterior panel on the vehicle: all body panels, door jambs, boot surrounds, bonnet underside, and B-pillar interiors. It is the right service when paint has faded or oxidised uniformly across the car, when a colour change is required, or when multi-panel collision damage makes individual panel pricing uneconomical.

Full car respray Dubai prices start at AED 2,500 for a standard sedan in a solid colour. The upper end for a full-size SUV in a custom metallic or colour-change finish reaches AED 8,000 to AED 10,000. This guide breaks down what drives the price within that range and what separates a result that holds for 5 years from one that peels in 18 months.

For single-panel resprays and targeted paint repairs, see our car painting cost guide. For the specific process details behind professional car painting, see our car painting Dubai guide.

Full Car Respray Dubai: What Does the Price Include?

A properly scoped full car respray includes stages that low-price quotes routinely omit. Understanding what is in the price tells you whether two quotes for the same vehicle are actually comparable.

Full disassembly is the first stage. Door handles, mirror housings, trim strips, headlights, taillights, bumper inserts, and fuel filler surrounds are removed before any paint is applied. Taping around these parts instead of removing them leaves paint edges that peel within a year. At DentGuy, removal is standard, not an extra.

Surface preparation takes longer than the paint application. The vehicle is stripped back to bare metal or sound existing paint, sanded flat, treated for any corrosion spots, and primed with a high-build primer on panels that carry filler or previous repair work. This stage determines the final surface quality more than any other.

The paint application itself uses a downdraft spray booth: a sealed, temperature-controlled environment where filtered air flows from ceiling to floor, removing overspray continuously and preventing dust landing on wet paint. On a full car respray, every panel is painted in sequence to maintain consistent gloss level and metallic orientation across the whole vehicle.

Curing takes 24 to 48 hours at controlled temperature. Our booth bakes the clearcoat at 60 degrees Celsius to accelerate crosslinking and produce a harder final film. After cure, the vehicle is wet-sanded and machine polished to remove surface texture and produce a factory-grade gloss.

Roads in Dubai are maintained by the RTA and carry aggregate debris, especially near interchange construction zones. A properly cured full-solid clearcoat is significantly more chip-resistant than air-dried clearcoat from a fast-turnaround respray. In a city where motorway driving at 120 km/h is routine, this matters.

Full Car Respray Dubai Prices by Vehicle Size and Finish

Pricing varies by three factors: vehicle size, paint colour complexity, and whether it is a same-colour refresh or a colour change.

Same-colour full respray, solid colours (white, silver, black, red): - Sedan (Camry, Accord, C-Class): AED 2,500 to AED 3,500 - Mid-size SUV (RAV4, CR-V, GLC): AED 3,000 to AED 4,500 - Large SUV (Land Cruiser, Patrol, Range Rover): AED 3,500 to AED 5,500

Same-colour full respray, metallic and pearl finishes: - Sedan: AED 3,000 to AED 4,500 - Mid-size SUV: AED 3,500 to AED 5,500 - Large SUV: AED 4,500 to AED 7,000

Colour change (same-colour pricing plus door jambs, boot surround, pillar interiors in new colour): - Add AED 500 to AED 1,500 above the same-colour price depending on vehicle size and interior surface complexity

Matte, satin, and candy metallic finishes: - Sedan full matte: AED 3,500 to AED 5,000 - SUV full matte: AED 5,000 to AED 7,500 - Candy metallic (multi-layer tinted clearcoat): from AED 6,500

For comparison, PPG refinish and BASF Glasurit are the same paint systems used in manufacturer-authorised bodyshops. The paint material cost for a full sedan respray in these systems runs AED 800 to AED 1,400 in materials alone. Quotes significantly below the entry prices above are using lower-grade paint systems with reduced UV resistance and less accurate colour formulation.

Is a Full Car Respray Worth It in Dubai?

The answer depends on why you are considering it. Three scenarios where a full car respray is clearly the right decision:

Uniform paint degradation. When oxidation, UV hazing, or chalking affects every panel, addressing one panel at a time is more expensive than a full respray and leaves visible variation between panels. Dubai's UV index reaches 11 to 12 from April through October, which is classified as extreme by the UAE National Centre for Meteorology. Vehicles parked outdoors without protection accumulate UV damage within 3 to 4 years on standard clearcoat. A full respray with high-solid clearcoat and UV additives resets the clock.

Colour change for personal preference or resale. Some vehicle colours are significantly less popular in the UAE used car market. A white-to-silver or black-to-white change can affect resale value meaningfully if done properly and declared at transfer. The RTA registration update cost is AED 120, which is marginal relative to the respray cost.

Multi-panel collision damage. When three or more panels are damaged in the same incident, an all-in full respray at AED 3,000 to AED 5,000 is often less than the sum of three individual panel quotes that each include their own setup, masking, and blending charges.

Where a full respray is not the right answer: when only one or two panels are damaged and the rest of the car is in good condition. Painting over undamaged original factory paint for cosmetic reasons makes no sense. Factory paint, if well maintained, consistently outlasts a professional respray in the same conditions. See our PDR vs traditional repair guide for cases where individual panels need attention without touching the rest.

How Long Does a Full Car Respray Take in Dubai?

A properly executed full car respray in Dubai takes 5 to 7 working days for a standard colour on a sedan. This covers disassembly, preparation, painting, curing, reassembly, and final polish. SUVs and vehicles with colour changes take 7 to 10 working days.

Any shop quoting less than 4 working days for a full respray is skipping stages. The most commonly skipped stage is cure time: painting on Monday and delivering on Tuesday means the clearcoat has air-dried for less than 24 hours, not baked for 24 to 48 hours. Air-dried clearcoat is softer, polishes less cleanly, and shows swirl marks faster under Dubai's washing frequency.

The second commonly skipped stage is full disassembly. A shop quoting 2 days is almost certainly taping trim and handles rather than removing them. The tape edge shows on close inspection within 6 months as the paint at the masking line shrinks and lifts.

For cars with previous accident repairs involving filler or corrosion, preparation takes longer. We assess and communicate any additional preparation time before starting. If the preparation reveals damage beyond what the quote assumed, we contact you before proceeding.

For planning purposes: drop off Monday morning, collect the following Wednesday or Thursday. If the car needs to be ready for a specific date, book 2 weeks in advance during peak periods. For urgent timelines, ask about single-panel resprays that address specific damage areas rather than the full vehicle. Our pricing guide covers all individual panel options.

What to Ask Before Booking a Full Car Respray in Dubai

Three questions that reveal whether a body shop will actually deliver what a full car respray promises:

Do they have a downdraft spray booth? If the answer is no, or vague, the paint will have dust in it. Ask to see it. A downdraft booth is a significant capital investment, so most Al Quoz workshops either have one or they do not. There is no in-between.

What paint brand do they use? PPG and BASF Glasurit are the correct answers. Both are approved by major manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Porsche for warranty repairs. These systems carry specific UAE-climate clearcoat variants designed for sustained UV exposure. Generic or unnamed paint brands lack these specifications.

What is the cure process? The answer should include an oven bake cycle at a specified temperature for a specified duration. An answer of "we let it dry overnight" describes an air-dry process, not a proper cure. Baked clearcoat is measurably harder and more durable.

After the respray is complete, ask for the colour formula card with the adjusted spectrophotometer reading. This is the exact mixed formula used for your car, and any future touch-up repairs can be matched to it rather than requiring a new reading. Quality shops retain or provide this as standard.

For a full-vehicle paint job combined with dent repair where some panels have existing damage, the PDR step comes before painting: we remove the metal deformation first, then prime and paint. Doing it in the other order means painting over a deformed panel and grinding the result flat, which compromises both the paint layer and the repair quality. See our car body repair guide for how full repair sequences work across multiple panels.
