Car Body Repair in Al Quoz: What It Costs and How to Choose a Workshop

DentGuy Technical Team7 min read

Al Quoz is where most of Dubai's car body repair work happens. The industrial area spans Al Quoz 1 through Al Quoz 4, and within it there are dozens of body shops ranging from one-man operations in a rented shed to fully equipped workshops with downdraft spray booths and computerised colour matching.

If you are driving to a body shop in Dubai, there is a strong chance it is in Al Quoz. That concentration is the result of affordable industrial units, proximity to the city's main road network (Sheikh Zayed Road, D73), and decades of accumulated trade in the area. It is also why the quality range is wider here than anywhere else in the city.

This guide explains what types of body repair are handled in Al Quoz workshops, what the work costs at market rates, and specifically what to look for when choosing where to take your car.

What Body Repairs Are Done in Al Quoz?

The full range of cosmetic and structural body repair is available in Al Quoz. The most common work breaks down into these categories:

Paintless dent removal (PDR): the dominant technique for dents where the paint is intact. A technician uses a series of metal rods to push the dent out from behind the panel without any filling or painting. Al Quoz has several PDR specialists alongside general body shops that offer PDR as part of a broader repair menu. For a full explanation of the PDR process, see our paintless dent removal Dubai guide.

Panel respray: repainting a single panel or the full car. Competent panel respray requires a dust-free spray booth and computerised colour matching. Not every Al Quoz shop has both. A paint job done in an open bay in the standard industrial unit format will have dust inclusions in the finished surface.

Bumper repair: plastic welding, filling, and repainting of damaged bumpers. Also bumper replacement when repair is not practical. This is high-volume work for Al Quoz workshops given Dubai's tight parking conditions.

Alloy wheel repair: kerb rash removal, bent rim straightening, diamond-cut restoration, and powder coat repainting. Several Al Quoz workshops specialise specifically in wheel repair. For a breakdown of wheel repair types, see our alloy wheel repair Dubai guide.

Panel beating: structural metalwork for panels that have been severely crumpled, creased, or pushed out of alignment. This requires a hydraulic pulling frame and a technician with panel metalwork skills. General body shops sub-contract heavy panel beating to specialists. For more detail on this process, see our panel beating Dubai guide.

Scratches and paint chips: from machine polishing to spot primer and respray, depending on the depth of the scratch. See our car scratch repair Dubai guide for the full decision tree by scratch depth.

What Does Body Repair Cost in Al Quoz?

Al Quoz workshop pricing for the most common repair types, based on current market rates:

Paintless dent removal (PDR): AED 250 to AED 400 for a standard panel dent. AED 150 to AED 250 for a small parking ding. AED 400 to AED 700 for multiple small dents on one panel.

Single panel respray: AED 400 to AED 550 for a sedan panel (door, fender, bumper) in a standard colour. AED 550 to AED 800 for an SUV panel. Metallic and pearl finishes add AED 150 to AED 250 per panel due to extra blending work.

Bumper repair (crack, fill, paint): AED 450 to AED 700 depending on damage extent. See our bumper repair Dubai guide for a full breakdown by damage type.

Alloy wheel kerb rash repair: AED 250 per wheel for standard painted alloy. AED 450 per wheel for diamond-cut. Bent rim straightening: AED 200 to AED 350 per wheel.

Scratch repair (machine polish, no painting): AED 100 to AED 200 per area. Spot repair with primer and paint: AED 300 to AED 500.

Full car respray: AED 2,500 to AED 5,000 depending on vehicle size and paint type. Solid colour respray on a sedan starts at AED 2,500. Full SUV respray in metallic starts at AED 4,000.

These prices reflect shops that use quality materials and have the right equipment. Shops quoting significantly below these figures are usually using budget paint systems, skipping the primer coat, or working in conditions that will produce a sub-standard finish. The cheapest quote in Al Quoz is rarely the best outcome.

How to Evaluate a Body Shop in Al Quoz

Look at the spray booth. This is the most reliable single indicator of quality. A downdraft spray booth is a sealed, temperature-controlled room with filtered air flowing downward. It prevents dust landing on wet paint. If a workshop is spraying cars in an open bay with a curtain around them, dust contamination is guaranteed. Ask specifically: do you have a downdraft booth? Is it temperature-controlled?

Ask about paint systems. The quality body shops in Al Quoz use PPG, BASF Glasurit, or Sikkens paint systems. These are the same systems specified by car manufacturers for authorised repair work. Shops using cheaper generic paints will often not name the system they use when asked directly. If the answer to "what paint brand do you use?" is vague, that tells you something.

Check colour matching capability. For any metallic, pearl, or tri-coat finish, computerised colour matching is not optional. A shop doing colour matching visually by eye cannot reliably blend a metallic panel into a 5-year-old car's aged paint. Ask if they have a spectrophotometer for reading the existing colour before mixing.

Look at finished work in person. Ask to see a car that has just been completed. Check the surface under direct light for orange peel, dust inclusions, or a paint edge where new meets old. A reputable shop will have no objection to showing finished work.

Get a written quote with a warranty. A proper quote specifies what is being repaired, what materials are being used, and the turnaround time. A 12-month warranty on paint and bodywork should be offered without prompting. If a shop will not warranty their work for a year, that is significant.

PDR is done by dedicated PDR technicians rather than general mechanics who occasionally do dent removal as a secondary task.

Getting to Al Quoz from Across Dubai

Al Quoz Industrial Area is well connected from across Dubai. From Sheikh Zayed Road, the Al Quoz exits (near Mall of the Emirates) put you inside the industrial area in under 10 minutes. From Jumeirah, Al Wasl Road runs directly to Al Quoz without using the highway. From Downtown Dubai, the D73 (Al Meydan Road connecting to Al Khail Road) reaches Al Quoz in 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.

For customers coming from Sharjah, the body repair work is the same and the pricing is identical. We also do on-site dent repair across Sharjah for PDR jobs. For a full breakdown of what is available, see our car body repair Sharjah guide.

Parking is straightforward at all Al Quoz industrial workshops. The units have direct street frontage on numbered streets and there is no parking fee in the industrial area. Most shops have space for 3 to 5 customer cars outside the unit.
